Book reviews: OOPEAA and K2S in Arkkitehti: Finnish Architectural Review

Excerpts -

On OPEAA:

It has been said that significant architecture always comes about in order to consecrate or elevate something. In the case of Kärsämäki church, one might think that the building manifests the collective endeavour of the local community to find a path to the sources of their own traditions.

On K2S:

It is a pleasure to read about the design processes, work enthusiasm and the loose, creativity-based and thought-orientated teamwork methods.

Anton Alvarez – Thread Wrapping Machine

In the latest Elle Decoration Katarina Matsson writes about the Anton Alvarez exhibition and book, Anton Alvarez – Thread Wrapping Machine, produced by Arvinius + Orfeus in collaboration with Gustavsbergs Konsthall, where the artist has been in residence for four months to create a performative installation of his thread wrapping method. The book details the artist's development of a machine that spins thousands of metres of brightly coloured thread around pieces of wood and metal to join them, producing solid benches, stools and lamps. Most recently, this process has been expanded to include architectural installations like the kind exhibited at Gustavsbergs Konsthall. Read more here

Palmar Kristmundsson in Form Magazine for Nordic Architecture and Design

Palmar Kristmundsson speaks to Salka Hallström Bornold in the new issue of Form Magazine for Nordic Architecture and Design about being a leading architect in one of the most extreme climates on earth.
